Mobile phones snatched

IMPHAL, Jan 14 : A protest meet was held today at the residence of Sanatomba Ayekpam, 30, son of late Iboyaima of Uripok Sorbon Thingel regarding the snatching of two mobile phones from two houses in the locality at gun point.

According to Sanatomba, the incident took place on January 11 this year at around 6.30 pm when he was having dinner.

Two unidentified gunmen came to him and asked for the whereabouts of an LIC agent name Sharat. The gunmen identified themselves as chief commander of the Shanti Prepak faction and took away a Chinese mobile at gunpoint and threatened him not to inform the police.

On the same day around 7 pm, two unidentified gunmen claiming to belong to the Shanti Prepak faction, came to the house of Loupouthabam Donis alias Yaima, 30, son of late L Nabakumar of Uripok Sorbon Thingel and took away a mobile phone (Samsung 700) at gunpoint while he was having dinner, the person said.

An FIR was lodged regarding the incident and people of the locality have urged the government to look into the matter and find the miscreants involved.
