IMPHAL, Feb 27 : The JAC against the brutal killing of Dr. Th Kishan, Y Token and A Rajen has announced that it will be holding a public meeting on February 27 at Nagamapal Kangjabi Lampak to streamline the diverse public opinion with regard to the issue and also lay out the future course of action concerning the demands of the JAC in particular and also justice for the general public.
The meeting will be held at 11 am in the morning.
In the meantime, the Janata Dal (Secular) Manipur has said that it is extremely unhappy and unsatisfied with the NSCN(IM)’s latest announcement regarding the killing of the Kasom Khullen SDO and his staff.
Stating that the government of India had now apparently sensed the futility of the appeasement policy towards the NSCN(IM)’s absurd and illegitimate demands, it said it was the bounden duty of the group to hand over the murderers of the SDO and his staff to the government of Manipur immediately for proper criminal trial according to the law and democratic procedure under the Constitution of India.
The JD(S) also said that subsequent to the killings the different tribal communities of Manipur, including the Nagas and Kukis, who had till now been remaining silent against the illegal and illegitimate activities of the NSCN(IM), had now become vocal against the nefarious acts of the outfit.
The National People’s Party, Manipur in its central executive committee meeting held today observed a minute’s silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
The party while strongly condemning the heinous crime, demanded that the culprits are booked and befitting punishment given to them as per the law immediately.
It also shared the grief of the deceased families. The Mao Council (Memai Hoho) has stated that though the NSCN(IM) higher authorities may not physically be involved in the crime, as they claim, they are still directly or indirectly accountable for it as it was the handiwork of its irresponsible officers.
The NSCN(IM) must act in accordance with its given word and deliver justice without any delay, it said while also reminding and cautioning the outfit not to try and manipulate the due course of justice like in the past case of kidnapping and murdering of two children from Senapati district in 2006.
People will not trust them otherwise, the council said in a statement while also accusing the NSCN(IM) culprits of trying to sow seeds of enmity between the Meiteis and the Nagas in Senapati district.
The body also shared the pain and sorrow of the family members of those slain and prayed for them.
The Kuki National Organisation has said the recent heinous and criminal butchering of the SDO of Kasom Khullen and his associates in Ukhrul district was a loathsome reminder of the inhuman massacre of innocent Kuki villagers by NSCN(IM)-led killers from 1992 to 1997.
Even more deplorable than the murders themselves was the attempt to implicate innocent Kukis for the inhuman crime by dumping the butchered remains near Taphou-Kuki, a Kuki village, with the potent objective of igniting a communal flare-up between the Meiteis and the Kukis, given the existing ethno-communal sensitivities in Manipur, it added.
The ATSUM, AMSU and DESAM today held a joint meeting at the Modhu Girls Junior High School to discuss the murder incident of Dr. Th Kisan, A Rajen and Y Token and strongly condemned the killing while stating that the chief minister and Union home minister should not take this incident lightly, but take strict action against the DC and SP of Ukhrul according to law.
They said that there should be steps taken to prevent such kind of incidents in future while appealing to all the communities to join hands in this regard.
