
India has provided Nepal a grant assistance of 104 million rupees for educational and road infrastructure in three districts of the country.
Four separate MOUs were signed yesterday by the Embassy of India, Kathmandu with concerned District Development Committees and beneficiary organizations.
The grant assistance is provided for construction of two new school buildings in Rupendehi and Lamjung districts and upgradation of two roads in Rupendehi districts.
According to a press statement of the Indian Embassy Katmandu, these projects are being undertaken in response to requests from respective District Development Committees in consultation with the Government of Nepal.
The construction of two new school buildings in Rupendehi district will serve the educational needs of over 1800 Nepali students, and the two road projects linking rural population with the district centre, will benefit over 1.7 million people of Lamjung district.
These projects are among five development projects in Rupandehi district and three development projects in Lamjung districts undertaken by Government of India in recent years.
These are among more than 300 developmental projects currently being implemented under the India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme in education, health, community development and infrastructure sectors in Nepal with an outlay of over 24 billions rupees.
