JAC members escape crowd fury in Wahidur murder case

IMPHAL, Jan 6 : Members of the JAC formed to demand justice in the case of the murder of Md. Wahidur Rehman of Keirao had a narrow escape from their houses being destroyed by irate residents of the dead boy`s locality after the former recommended the residents to accept the dead body claiming that the police had arrested the culprits and they had been told who the arrested culprits were.

Violence however was averted by the timely intervention of the police.

The incident occurred at about 5.30pm this evening and according to a member of the JAC the crowd became furious after they did not divulge to them the identity of the culprits arrested by the police while recommending them they should accept the body of the dead boy.

The matter is now open. The arrested suspects in the murder are Mujibur Rehman, 15, and Md. Bungo Macha, 10, both sons of Md. Alimuddin of Urup Awang Leikai.

Police suspect the culprits resorted to murder as the deceased boy had an affair with a sister of the two boys in police custody.
